I’m Laurel, a horror doll artist based in London.
For five years I have been creating finely detailed horror-art dolls and figures based on cult film, tv and videogame characters, as well as original designs; my buyers are collectors and cosplayers from across the world. I take second-hand dolls from lines like Barbie and Monster High, strip them down to their basics and create unique pieces of art from them. These can be used for display, puppeteering but also for animation, as I almost always use poseable/articulated dolls as bases.
I'm passionate about sustainability and not adding more waste to landfill, so all the dolls I use to make my work are preloved rather than new, sourced from online marketplaces, local flea markets and charity shops. I also take care that the modelling materials, sprays, paints, pastels etc are eco-friendly or low impact and that all the packaging I use is recyclable or compostable.
